Death Of Omasese Lumumba
EDM number 992 in 1993-94, proposed by Jeremy Corbyn on 31/03/1994.
That this House is solely distressed about the death of Omasese Lumumba and supports the call for an independent impartial inquiry into his death; is deeply concerned that in the second half of last year, since the Immigration and Asylum Appeals Act 1993 came into force, refusals of asylum applications rose to 72 per cent. of all decisions; and believes that asylum-seekers should be treated in accordance with the recommendations in Amnesty International's May 1991 report, "United Kingdom, Deficient Policy and Practice for the Protection of Asylum Seekers'.
