Mortgages For Mining Area Properties
EDM number 986 in 1993-94, proposed by Eric Illsley on 30/03/1994.
That this House condemns the current policy of building societies and insurance companies of refusing to grant mortgages on any property which has previously suffered from subsidence damage; notes that the majority of properties in coal mining areas will have suffered from subsidence damage at some time another which means that thousands of sound properties are condemned to site value only; realises that hundreds of thousands of people will possess worthless properties unless this policy is reversed; and calls upon the Government to act immediately to end this nonsense.
This motion has been signed by a total of 78 MPs, 1 of these signatures have been withdrawn.
