Conflict Of Interests

That this House believes that directors of public service companies such as Yorkshire Water plc should not have any outside financial interests especially in chemical companies which are potentially amongst the biggest polluters; therefore welcomes the long overdue retirement of Sir Gordon Jones, Chairman of Yorkshire Water plc from Hickson International; and calls on his fellow director Mr Peter Flesher who is also managing director of Allied Colloids plc to resign from Yorkshire Water plc, and thus avoid any conflict of interest especially bearing in mind the massive pollution which Allied Colloids caused under his stewardship, in 1992.
