Open Government And Cleveland
EDM number 889 in 1993-94, proposed by Frank Cook on 17/03/1994.
That this House notes with concern that the Secretary of State for the Environment has refused to make available to honourable Members through the Library the submissions he has received since the publication of the Local Government Commission's final report on Cleveland's review on 8th November last year; believes this action discredits further a process already found lacking in terms of logic; regards the denial of access to this material to honourable Members as wholly unacceptable; and calls upon the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster to enquire into his Ministerial colleague's action as a matter of urgency, in view of such a clear breach of the much-publicised commitment to open government.
