Rundown Of British Gas Wales Region
EDM number 864 in 1993-94, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 15/03/1994.
That this House deplores the imminent closure of British Gas Wales as a region, including its headquarters in Helmont House, Churchill Way, Cardiff, with the probable loss of at least 500 jobs in Cardiff and elsewhere in Wales, both because of the loss of jobs and the loss of any regional commercial decision-making identity; and calls on the President of the Board of Trade, Director-General of the Office of Gas Regulation and the Monopolies and Mergers Commission to re-examine the issue of the Wales Region of British Gas to ensure that British Gas can continue to provide a comprehensive safe multi-purpose gas supply service to business and domestic gas consumers alike.
