Continence Awareness Week
EDM number 794 in 1993-94, proposed by Liz Lynne on 09/03/1994.
That this House welcomes the Government's initiative to promote National Continence Week from 13th to 19th March; notes that 70 per cent. of incontinence is curable with professional advice and that an increased number will seek expert assistance as a result of the week; is concerned that the provision of continence services, including advice and supplies, continues to be patchy across the country and that shortfall in funding may prevent health authorities from responding positively to the anticipated increase in demand for continence services; and urges the Government to provide guidelines to ensure health authorities provide services to an agreed standard and to introduce the treatment of incontinence into the Health of the Nation targets at the earliest possible opportunity.
