Local Government Review

That this House notes that the Secretary of State for the Environment has rejected the Local Government Commission's recommendations for Gloucestershire, as he has done for those on Durham and Derbyshire; believes that his actions are turning the Local Government Review into a farce and that the Commission's position is becoming untenable; and urges that in the interests of local democracy, the whole discredited and disreputable process should be scrapped forthwith.
