Aberdeen City Chief Executive £287,000 Severence Settlement

EDM number 571 in 1993-94, proposed by Malcolm Bruce on 09/02/1994.

That this House is outraged at the reported offer of £287,000 severance settlement to Donald Macdonald, Chief Executive of the City of Aberdeen District Council, following accusations of bullying and his admission that he used false qualifications; believes that he should receive not a penny more than the minimum settlement required by law; congratulates the Liberal Democrat councillors for demanding an independent inquiry that led to the revelations that terminated the Chief Executive's contract; and calls on the full council to repudiate the offer in favour of the minimum, and failing that, for the council to be investigated by the Accounts Commission.

This motion has been signed by a total of 12 MPs.
