Energy Saving Trust

EDM number 565 in 1993-94, proposed by Peter Hardy on 09/02/1994.

That this House registers its alarm at the refusal by the Director-General of Ofgas to use the E-factor to raise money for the energy-saving schemes of the Energy Saving Trust; notes that this refusal will create a funding crisis for the Energy Saving Trust and prevent it from pursuing its programme of energy efficiency measures with regard to gas, thus making it impossible for Government to achieve its carbon dioxide stabilisation target under the Rio Agreement; and calls upon the Department of Trade and Industry and the Department of the Environment to resolve this disagreement so that the Energy Saving Trust is able to pursue its programme with expedition and energy.
