That this House notes an article in The Sunday Times of 6th February 1994 which reports that the Right honourable Member for Enfield, Southgate delivered a speech to the Political Society at Eton College on 2nd February containing similar, sweeping statements on business corruption and the purchasing of educational qualifications overseas to those he made to students at Southampton University on 4th February, for which he apologised and explained that these latter comments were made in the heat of the moment; believes that a further apology is therefore in order; and notes the irony that such comments were made to students at Eton which is where powerful and rich parents are able to purchase considerable privilege and advantage for their children.
