Nissan Motors

That this House congratulates the Nissan Motor Company based in Washington New Town, Sunderland, for being the biggest United Kingdom car exporter for 1993; notes that Nissan exported 182,207 cars worth nearly ú1 billion in export earnings; further notes that each year since 1988 exports have been increased and the company has already been awarded two Queens Awards for Export Achievement; further notes that the Nissan Micra and the Nissan Primera are manufactured in the North East and that the cars are built by British workers and by British management; and looks forward to further expansion of Nissan's technology centres.
