Meigle Cottage Hospital And The Noble Lord Fraser Of Carmyllie

That this House notes that, contrary to Government policy, the very popular Meigle Cottage Hospital is to be closed; and further notes that the Government's declared aim of being a listening Government has not in this instance been carried out, as evidenced by the failure of the Scottish Health Minister, the Noble Lord Fraser of Carmyllie, to grant the meeting requested in December by the honourable Member for North Tayside; and calls upon the Government to instruct the Tayside Health Board to suspend the closure of Meigle Cottage Hospital until such time as the population growth figures and hospital facilities for the Meigle and Blairgowrie catchment areas have been fully investigated and evaluated.
