Control Of Dangerous Dogs
EDM number 48 in 1993-94, proposed by Ernie Ross on 22/11/1993.
That this House is deeply saddened by the recent deaths as a result of attacks by dogs; congratulates The Daily Record on its campaign for new laws to protect the public from dangerous dogs; deplores the fact that Her Majesty's Government has consistently refused to implement a national dog registration scheme which would help local authorities to protect the public from the risk of such attacks; believes that the time has now come for further measures such as the use of muzzles and leads in certain circumstances and a requirement that dogs in public places should be under the control of a responsible adult at all times; and demands immediate action by Her Majesty's Government before any more people are killed.
