Housing Subsidies And Rent Rebates
EDM number 476 in 1993-94, proposed by Ieuan Wyn Jones on 27/01/1994.
That this House calls on the Government to fund the full cost to district councils of the payment of rent rebates; notes that the refusal of the Welsh Office to foot the bill of rent rebates is certain to mean a considerable increase in council house rents; further notes that the amount of Government housing subsidy is less than the cost to local councils of rent rebates, the cost of which should be borne by the Exchequer; and condemns this unfair tax on council house tenants which comes on top of all the other taxes imposed on the people of Wales.
