That this House expresses its deep concern at the financial difficulties facing the arts in this country; regrets the reduction in grant in aid to the Arts Council of England; applauds the high international reputation and success enjoyed by the arts of the United Kingdom; expresses its concern about the future of arts provision in schools and the declining support available for arts students in further education; and emphasises the immense cultural, social and economic contribution made by the arts to British life.
