Consequences Of Child Support Agency
EDM number 45 in 1993-94, proposed by Frank Cook on 22/11/1993.
That this House notes with dismay the stark contrast between the immediate and relentless pursuit of constituents to pay promptly and in full their greatly increased maintenance orders and the tardiness and reluctance of official response to letters of protest or appeal from honourable Members; notes with concern that appeals submitted to Hastings CSA Office on 6th October on behalf of Mr Graham Carmichael and to the Falkirk CSA Office on 18th October on behalf of Mr Keith Matthews have after seven and five weeks, respectively, failed to elicit even a mere acknowledgement; recognises readily that any incentive for such targeted individuals to remain in work has been eroded almost to the point of extinguishment; acknowledges the good records to date of each individual to comply with court maintenance orders and requests the Minister as a matter of urgency to instruct the state agency to respond to representations from honourable Members within a reasonable time-scale.
