That this House warmly welcomes the success of the Manchester Metrolink which has. in its first year of operation, exceeded all expectations; notes that in this period 13 million passengers have used the system; is encouraged at the result of a survey which has shown that car owners are, in large numbers, choosing not to use their cars in favour of Metrolink; and is exultant at the massive boost for the concept of public transport that Metrolink clearly represents.
