Bed Crisis In Leicestershire Hospitals
EDM number 385 in 1993-94, proposed by Keith Vaz on 19/01/1994.
That this House is horrified at the treatment of a 54-year-old Leicester women who spent 14 hours on a trolley at Leicester Royal Infirmary before a hospital bed could be found; calls for an inquiry into the circumstances leading to this appalling situation; is concerned that there appears to be a crisis of beds in hospitals in Leicester, in particular at the Leicester Royal Infirmary, Leicester General Hospital and Glenfield Hospital; and considers that an urgent meeting should be arranged between the Secretary of State for Health and the management of the three hospitals in order to ensure that this unacceptable situation is brought to a speedy conclusion so that local people are able to use the facilities of the National Health Service in Leicester as of right.
