Behaviour Of West Lancashire Conservatives

That this House notes the unsavoury actions of West Lancashire District Conservative councillors serving on an exactly hung council, who, on the same day as the funeral of Labour Councillor Danny Bassey, voted to remove all Labour joint-chairmen of Committees and alter the composition of key committees, even though there was no change whatever in mandate; also notes the large number of hung councils; and calls on the Government to clarify or alter the Widdicombe regulations and the Representation of the People Act to take account of the death of any councillor, within six months of a coming election, on a hung council.
