Human Rights In Vukovar
EDM number 299 in 1993-94, proposed by Anthony Coombs on 16/12/1993.
That this House, recognising and condemning human rights abuses on all sides of the conflict in the former Yugoslavia, urges Her Majesty's Government in particular to raise with the United Nations, its Commission for Refugees and the Serbian authorities, the plight of 2, 300 disappeared people following the fall of Vukovar in 1991, 250 of whom were taken from hospital and transported to Serbia; notes that, despite requests from the United Nations and the International Red Cross, no information concerning these prisoners has been released by the Serbian authorities; and proposes that providing such information for Vukovar and elsewhere should be a precondition of any lifting of sanctions and of an ultimate peace settlement in Yugoslavia
