Nhs Dental Services
EDM number 237 in 1993-94, proposed by Dafydd Wigley on 13/12/1993.
That this House expresses its grave dismay at the rundown of dental services in the National Health Service; notes that an increasing number of dentists are refusing to take patients on the National Health Service and are only accepting new patients on a private basis; is alarmed that in the entire district council area of Dwyfor there is no longer a single dentist accepting new patients on the National Health Service, leading to people having to make a round trip of up to a hundred miles in some instances to secure dental treatment; believes this appalling situation to be a direct result of the Government's mishandling of the dentists' contract issue; and calls for an immediate reconsideration of Government policy so that dental treatment can be once again universally available on the National Health Service.
