British Council In Palestine
EDM number 225 in 1993-94, proposed by George Galloway on 09/12/1993.
That this House congratulates the British Council in its continuing excellent work in Palestine; notes that from its headquarters in East Jerusalem, Nablus and Gaza the able staff, British and Palestinian, spread the best of British values and provide practical and cultural support to the Palestinian population suffering under occupation; and in particular thanks the British Council staff, M'amoun Kassem and the outstanding and well preserved Director of the British Council in Jerusalem, Chris McConville, whose service has been recently extended despite reaching retirement age, for all the kindness and wise counsel they have extended to honourable Members visiting occupied Palestine.
