Closure Of Inner City Post Offices And The Criteria Used

That this House is concerned at the closure of inner post offices, such as the one at Granby Street, Liverpool 8, in spite of opposition from the Liverpool City Council, the Chamber of Commerce, the Post Office Users Advisory Committee, pensioners, local councillors, clergymen, and various ethnic minority organisations; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to call for a review of the decision of the Post Office as a matter of urgency and to explain whether the future of inner city post offices depends on the criterion of social responsibility to the community or on profitability.
