Leicester Memorial And Compensation For Nuclear Test Veterans
EDM number 178 in 1993-94, proposed by Keith Vaz on 06/12/1993.
That this House welcomes the installation in Leicester on 27th November of a memorial to the British nuclear test veterans; recalls that it is over two and a half years since the honourable Member for Leicester East met the Prime Minister to discuss the case of John Hall of Shetland Road, Leicester, who served on Christmas Island; further recalls that the Prime Minister pledged that the progress would be made on this issue by the end of 1991; deeply regrets that since that meeting Mr John Hall and other nuclear test veterans have died; and therefore calls on the Government to immediately pay the nuclear test veterans the compensation they deserve and to settle this matter in a speedy and honourable way.
