Water Charges In The South West
EDM number 1673 in 1993-94, proposed by Paul Tyler on 27/10/1994.
That this House, noting that the Right honourable Member for Richmond and Barnes, Minister without Portfolio, when asked in an interview broadcast by Westcountry Television on 27th September whether the Cabinet was considering the provision of Government funds for South West Water to bring bills down to national levels, answered 'our beaches etc. really must get better; that will be good for the long term economy of the South West; now who should pay for that, whether it should be paid, shall we say, on a regional basis, or whether it should be by national funding, all of that is being considered at the moment' regrets that, in his Answer of 25th October to the parliamentary question from the honourable Member for North Cornwall, the Prime Minister failed to explain whether this statement represents the policy of Her Majesty's Government; and urges the Prime Minister to clarify the position as a matter of extreme urgency in view of its critical importance to the people of Cornwall, Devon and Somerset.
This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs.
