SALE OF PRISONERS' ORGANS IN CHINA
EDM number 1657 in 1993-94, proposed by Denis MacShane on 26/10/1994.
That this House condemns the barbaric practice in China of executing prisoners in order to provide human organs for sale for transplant purposes; urges the Foreign Secretary to make immediate protests to the Chinese government expressing the revulsion of the British people over this foul trade and take steps to ensure that this example of Chinese mistreatment of their citizens is not extended to the people of Hong Kong after 1997; and further urges the Government to call upon the World Health Organisation to carry out an immediate inquiry into this practice and ensure that until such organ-snatching executions are stopped all cooperation with Chinese doctors in international forums is suspended.
