Newbury Buses Launch Of A Natural Gas Powered Bus

EDM number 1625 in 1993-94, proposed by David Rendel on 20/10/1994.

That this House congratulates Newbury Buses on the launch of the first bus to be powered by natural gas in Britain; welcomes the support for this project given by Berkshire County Council, British Gas and the Department of Transport, who have jointly funded the capital cost of the engine and the fuel system; notes that the level of pollutant emissions from buses run on natural gas is expected to be much lower than emissions from other buses; and urges the Chancellor the Exchequer to amend the tax regime in order to improve the incentive for vehicle users to convert their vehicles to natural gas.

This motion has been signed by a total of 25 MPs.
