Association Of Conservative Clubs Ltd Default On Annual Returns To Companies House
EDM number 1603 in 1993-94, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 18/10/1994.
That this House deplores the failure of the Association of Conservative Clubs Ltd, 2 Smith Square, London, to file its annual return at Companies House within or even close to the statutory filing due date, in spite of a standard warning notice and a default letter from Companies House; calls on the Secretary of State for Employment in his position of Honorary President and the honourable Member for Shipley in his position as Chairman of the Association of Conservative Clubs Ltd. to be mindful of their duties as officers of the company; calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to explain how it was that Mr Peter Lawrence, the Director of Finance and Planning at Companies House had to take it upon himself on Friday 14th October to ask the Minister for Corporate Affairs directly to prompt the company to file its late returns to avoid the embarrassment of a prosecution of the company for this criminal offence under the Companies Act; and further calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to publish in full the list of companies held at Companies House deemed to be politically sensitive and where the prompting by non-political civil servants is used to save political embarrassment, a free service denied to hundreds of thousands of small businesses up and down the land without the necessary links to the power that be.
