Transfer Of Tb Reference Laboratory From Cardiff To London

EDM number 1587 in 1993-94, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 17/10/1994.

That this House deplores the decision of the Public Health Laboratory Service, Colindale, to close the Tuberculosis Reference Laboratory which services the whole of the United Kingdom from the University Hospital of Wales and has been located as a national centre of excellence in Cardiff for 40 years; and notes the decision of the Public Health Laboratory Service to transfer the work to the King's College Hospital, Dulwich, without regard to the expertise and international reputation of the Cardiff laboratory, the very small number of United Kingdom centres of excellence in Wales and the large number already located in the London area.

This motion has been signed by a total of 27 MPs.
