South Tees Hospital Trust Pay Proposals
EDM number 1503 in 1993-94, proposed by Frank Cook on 13/07/1994.
That this House is acutely concerned at reports that the South Tees Hospital Trust intends to impose unilaterally upon its nursing staff a form of performance related pay; notes that this particular hospital trust is the only one in the country not to have recognised the three per cent. agreed settlement awarded in April by the Nurses Pay Review Body; believes that schemes for individual performance related pay are unworkable on the wards or indeed elsewhere as nurses are routinely required to work in teams; and calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to instruct South Tees Hospital Trust to withdraw immediately its proposed imposition of performance related pay for nurses and to implement payment of the three per cent. April award forthwith.
