That this House deplores the fact that Richard Young, the former managing director of Midlands Electricity, received a pay-off and other benefits worth Ãº1.2 million according to the company's accounts and that many other directors of the electricity companies stand to make large additional personal profit from share offer deals; considers that these are further examples of the abuses which have followed privatisation of the public utilities and considers it unacceptable that the Government still shows no willingness to take action on these abuses in the public interest.
