Rights Of Elderly Care Homes Residents

EDM number 1440 in 1993-94, proposed by Ian Paisley on 04/07/1994.

That this House believes that the Government's care in the community policy must centre around core values of choice, participation and consent and that any administrative system of care must be based upon such values; further believes that the residents of elderly care homes in Northern Ireland are excluded from decisions about where they should spend their future; and calls upon the Government to delay any final decison on the future of such homes as The Banks, the Enler House, Cairns House and Old See House until a final decision by the Northern Ireland courts is made concerning cases taken by residents to ensure the facilities remain open.

This motion has been signed by a total of 23 MPs.
