European Court Decision On Greek Trade Embargo

EDM number 1431 in 1993-94, proposed by Edward O'Hara on 04/07/1994.

That this House notes with interest the decision of the European Court of Justice not to grant the request of the European Commission for an injunction forcing Greece to lift its limited trade embargo on the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; sees this as a further example of the growing realisation that Greece has just grounds for its policies towards the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government and other members of the European Union now to reassess their policies in this area and to work with Greece to resolve the problems internal to the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia which pose the real threat to peace and stability in the Balkans.
