That this House is astonished by the 44 per cent. pay increase to the Chairman of North West Water, Sir Desmond Pitcher, over his predecessor; notes the Government's miserly treatment of the railway signallers, its abolition of wages councils and its opposition to the concept of a minimum wage; and demands equal treatment for those at the bottom of the pay ladder with that afforded to those at the top.
