ROYAL SOCIETY OF CHEMISTRY'S PARLIAMENTARY LINKS DAY
EDM number 1404 in 1993-94, proposed by Michael Clark on 28/06/1994.
That this House congratulates the Royal Society of Chemistry on holding its Parliamentary Links Day at the House on Thursday 30th June and the continuing commitment by the Society to the public interest that this Links Day represents in seeking to improve the scientific understanding of honourable Members; notes that the Society's pioneering Parliamentary Link Scheme, which provides information and briefing on chemistry-related scientific subjects, is open to Right honourable and honourable Members on all sides of the House; further notes the central role that chemistry plays in underpinning scientific advances in areas as diverse as the information superhighway, computer technology, drug development and in a wide variety of other leading technologies; and applauds the initiative of the Society in devoting this year's Parliamentary Links Day both to the crucial link between the core science of chemistry and the United Kingdom's scientific research base and to chemistry's key role in wealth creation and the quality of life.
