Monklands District Council

EDM number 1384 in 1993-94, proposed by Alex Salmond on 23/06/1994.

That this House notes that the Labour Party candidate for the Monklands East by-election has finally admitted that there is a spending disparity between various parts of Monklands District; further notes that 110 Members of the Parliamentary Labour Party signed the honourable Member for Cumbernauld and Kilsyth's Motion (Conduct of Honourable Members and Monklands District Council), which concluded that following the failure of the Scottish Office to mount an inquiry that there is no valid complaint against Monklands District Council; calls on those said honourable Members to remove their names from the said Motion; and further demands that those honourable Members apologise to the people of Monklands for providing political cover for the disgraced administration of Monklands District Council.
