Child Support Agency Delay In Replying To Letters From Hon Members
EDM number 1374 in 1993-94, proposed by Mike Gapes on 22/06/1994.
That this House notes that the honourable Member for Ilford South wrote to the Secretary of State for Social Security on 28th March requesting the policy of the Government with regard to the inordinate length of time taken for the Child Support Agency to respond to representations from honourable Members; deplores the fact that no reply from the Secretary of State has yet been received; notes that response from the Chief Executive of the Child Support Agency was only sent on 20th June some three months later; expresses its disbelief at the word processed standard paragraph two statement in this letter that 'I aim to respond within an average of 20 working days' to letters from honourable Members; and calls on the Secretary of State to stop buck passing and intervene to sort out the chaos in the Child Support Agency and to ensure that in future he replies in person to letters about his policy towards the Child Support Agency.
