That this House notes the continued speculation over the future of the Patent Office and the possibility of privatisation; notes that no country in the world has a privatised Patent Office; notes that the Patent Office in Newport Gwent has just won a Chartermark Award for efficiency; believes that privatisation of the Patent Office will lead to legal problems and could cause the loss of over 1,000 jobs in South Wales; and calls upon the President of the Board of Trade to end any speculation about the possibility of privatising the Patent Office.
