Iraqi Kurdistan

That this House notes with grave concern the recent outbreaks of fighting between the Kurdistan Democratic Party and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan; believes such hostilities threaten to shatter the democratic aspirations of the Kurdish people and sabotage the support of the outside world for their just struggle to achieve legitimate national rights within a democratic, federal Iraq; considers that this tragic feuding will only serve the enemies of the Kurdish people, particularly the dictatorial regime of Saddam Hussein; and calls as a matter of urgency for a halt to the fighting and respect for the latest ceasefire agreement reached on 20th May so as to bring back peace and democracy to Iraqi Kurdistan.
