Normandy Campaign Medal

EDM number 1272 in 1993-94, proposed by Jon Owen Jones on 23/05/1994.

That this House calls upon the Government to ensure that a medal to commemorate the Normandy campaign is awarded to the servicemen and women who participated in developing a second front against the Nazis in Europe; and recognises the demand for such a medal as evidenced by the 20,000 veterans who have purchased privately produced medals from Award Productions Ltd at a cost of ú24.50; and believes that the veterans of the Normandy battles deserve the recognition of a medal as a right on the 50th anniversary of the battle.
