Death Of J R D Tata

EDM number 127 in 1993-94, proposed by Keith Vaz on 30/11/1993.

That this House notes with sadness the news of the death on 29th November of JRD Tata; recognises him as one of India's greatest industrialists as well as the founder of Indian aviation; acknowledges his enormous contributions through Tata industries to a myriad of different industrial and commercial enterprises which provided employment to hundreds of thousands of people; commends his inexhaustible work on behalf of charitable and educational ventures; and further notes the recognition of the people of India and the international community as represented by his award of the Bharat Ratna in 1991 and the UN Population Award in 1992.
