Disabled People And The International Olympic Committee

That this House condemns the decision of the International Olympic Committee, reported in Disability Times, that after many years of inspiring and highly commendable practice, the Paralympics will no longer be able to use the Olympic rings, or a similar teardrop symbol, or Olympic terms on the threat of there being no more money forthcoming; is concerned that this decision appears to put commercial greed before the supposed Olympic ideals of international unity and non-commercialisation; and urges both the Secretary of State for National Heritage and the British Olympic Committee to make every effort to reverse this appalling decision.
