Grampian Region

EDM number 1198 in 1993-94, proposed by Alex Salmond on 10/05/1994.

That this House condemns the extraordinary proposal from the Liberal Democrats to invite the Conservative Party back into joint administration in Grampian Region; believes that the 53,890 people (32 per cent.), who voted SNP, the 41,663 (25 per cent.) who voted Liberal Democrat the the 33,552 (20 per cent.) who voted Labour in the North East will be outraged by this silly Liberal proposal to hand back some power to a Tory Party whom the Scottish people have gone to considerable time and trouble eradicating from any influence in local government; and further calls on the Liberal Democrats honourable Members, as long standing supporters of proportional representation, to distance themselves from this daft notion by recognising that the SNP are the people's choice in the North East of Scotland and that the Tories have been decisively and deservedly rejected at the polls.

This motion has been signed by a total of 3 MPs.
