Future Management Of Scottish Ambulance Service

EDM number 1165 in 1993-94, proposed by James Wallace on 04/05/1994.

That this House views with concern the prospect of the Scottish Ambulance Service being awarded trust status by the Government; considers that there is no justification for such an unnecessary change, in view of the fact that the Scottish Ambulance Service, as presently organised, already operates highly efficiently, with average response time for ambulance call-outs across Scotland of 51 per cent. within eight minutes and 96 per cent. between 14 and 20 minutes; recognises that the awarding of trust status to the Service would not only cause needless disruption but would result in the erosion of accountability of this important service and the formation of yet another health quango; and urges Her Majesty's Government not to award trust status to the Scottish Ambulance Service.

This motion has been signed by a total of 17 MPs.
