Future Policy On Bosnia
EDM number 1126 in 1993-94, proposed by Patrick Cormack on 26/04/1994.
That this House, deploring the failure of the international community to prevent the carnage of Gorazde, welcomes the new mood of apparent determination and resolution evident in the issuing of the ultimatum which led to the ending of the bombardment of the city and the withdrawing of Serbian forces; believes that this reinforces the message of Sarajevo that such determination and resolution produces results; urges Her Majesty's Government and leaders of the international community never again to forget this; believes it essential, if any honour and hope is to be salvaged from the massacre, misery, and wreckage that is Bosnia, every safe-haven should now be made subject to the same protection as is afforded the ruins of Gorazde; and finally believes that if Serbia and the Bosnian Serbs attempt further slaughter they be told that the Bosnian Government will be supplied with adequate weapons and given such air support as it needs to ensure that the rape of its territory and the ethnic cleansing of its people will not succeed.
