London Voluntary Youth Organisations
EDM number 1051 in 1993-94, proposed by Malcolm Wicks on 19/04/1994.
That this House reaffirms its support and commitment to young people; recognises the contribution to society by the Youth Service and particularly voluntary youth organisations in helping young people to develop into fully contributing members of the community; notes that the reduction in funding to London voluntary youth organisations by ú500,000 between 1992-93 to 1996-97 and expectation that local authorities, whose budgets are under increasing pressure, to provide replacement funding, means that young people in the capital will suffer a reduction in services, opportunities and quality of life; and therefore calls upon the Government to demonstrate its commitment to its young citizens and their future by building for that future and safeguarding the adequate supply of funds for the Youth Service in London.
