WOKING BOROUGH COUNCIL'S PIGEON DEPORTATION PLAN

EDM number 1047 in 1993-94, proposed by George Galloway on 19/04/1994.

That this House condemns the plan reported in the Daily Record, hatched by Woking Borough Council, to deport pigeons from Surrey to Scotland as a means of reducing health threatening droppings in their own area; deplores the idea that these `rats with wings' should be trucked up the M6 to Glencoe and then released only to come home to roost in cities like Glasgow which is already culling pigeons for health reasons; and confirms that, while the good people of Surrey will always be welcome in the Scottish glens, their pigeons will be regarded as illegal and unwanted aliens and that measures to intercept their northwards flight may have to be investigated.

This motion has been signed by a total of 15 MPs.
