Oil And Gas Exploration In Cardigan Bay And Impact On Cetaceans
EDM number 967 in 1992-93, proposed by Rhodri Morgan on 30/11/1992.
That this House deplores the granting of an oil and gas prospecting licence to Hamilton Bros. on Block 107R/1 and 107/6 off the Lleyn Peninsula at the northern edge of Cardigan Bay and close enough to the home of one of the last two resident families of dolphins in British coastal waters to imperil its continued health & well-being; further notes that there has been no proper environmental impact assessment of the side-effects of an exploration drilling programme on the sensory organs of the resident cetacean programmes; and asks for such a programme to be carried out urgently before drilling proceeds.
