Control Of Public Expenditure

That this House notes that on 25th November Government Members voted to freeze honourable Members' pay and save ú651,000; notes that this is approximately the same as the cost of the wide variety of fact-finding tours undertaken by Select Committees, particularly during inclement weather in the United Kingdom; suggests that there are few parts of the globe untrodden by intrepid honourable Members; urges Select Committees to use this vast reservoir of past experience to guide them in the compilation of any future reports; and confidently looks forward to Government supporters expressing this view when travel proposals are discussed either by Select Committees or the Liaison Committee.
