Supplies Of Hib Vaccines

That this House calls upon the Secretary of State for Health to take urgent action to speed up the supplies of HIB vaccines to general practitioners throughout the country in view of the fact that children are not being immunised against diseases such as meningitis because of shortages of the vaccine caused primarily by the late awarding of the contracts to supply the vaccine by the Department of Health to the manufacturers; and notes that the publicity campaign launched by the Department of Health, warning parents to ensure their children were immunised, has turned into another tragic farce perpetrated by this totally incompetent Tory Government, in view of the fact that these same parents are being told by some general practitioners, who are as distressed as the parents at this state of affairs, that there is not enough vaccine to go around.
